Benefitting from a Space because Others Gave

We are Jonathan and Amy Boyd with our two teenage children, Matthew and Zadie. We joined FBC in January 2010, and our children grew up in the FBC Children’s Ministry from when they were Pre-K up to the Student Ministry now.

You might wonder why it is so important for us to support the GENERATIONS Building and Renovation Campaign when our children won’t experience the building improvements directly.

First, our children did experience the classrooms and worship spaces as they were during their time in the Children’s Ministry. We taught in Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action. We understood that FBC needed to modernize and create new, safe spaces for our children to worship and learn within our church.

Secondly, our children now benefit from the previous building campaign that replaced the old Church Life Center with the Gathering Space, Life Center, and Student Center. It was completed several years before they were old enough to use it, but we understand that building campaigns are all about looking to the future.

Lastly, thanks to my previous roles as a Trustee and a Deacon, I fully understand our responsibility to take care of, and make improvements upon, the church buildings people have provided to us in the past. We are charged with being good stewards of the gifts God has provided to us, and the best way to do that is to undertake these building improvements when necessary.

Yes, our children are too old to directly benefit from the GENERATIONS Building and Renovation Generations campaign in our church. But in the future, perhaps their children will. That would be our prayers for the future.

God bless,
The Boyds
